Journal of Forest Economics 70 ( 2 ) 30 - 41 2024
Language:Japanese Publisher:The Japanese Forest Economic Society
This study analyzes the evolution of the activities of the Aso Green Stock Foundation, a volunteer organization formed in 1995 mainly by urban residents to support the burning of wild land in order to conserve the local natural environment through urban-rural exchange, and examines the characteristics of the development of natural resource management activities in collaboration with local residents. The research method was based on a literature review of the foundation’s newsletter, which was divided into periods based on (1) changes in management in the activities of the Noyaki Volunteers and (2) the creation of new projects in cooperation with the local agriculture and livestock industry. As a result, the 28 years of activities of Aso Green Stock were divided into six periods: “The period of starting activities of dispatching volunteers for burning wild land (1991-1999),” “The birth of the association of volunteers for burning wild land and its development into an urban-rural exchange project (2000-2005),”and “The period of expansion of stakeholders of grassland restoration in Aso and members of the volunteer association for burning wild land (2005-2011),” “Enhancement of safety management of volunteer wildfire volunteers and local reconstruction after disasters (2012-2015),” “Grassland restoration through livelihood reconstruction and tourism promotion after the Kumamoto earthquake (2016-2019),”and “Grassland conservation in collaboration with multispecies industry (2020-2023).”

<p>In the conservation and management of natural landscapes, it is expected that private organizations and citizens will actively participate in the promotion of park management in collaboration with various actors. This study conducted a questionnaire survey on Aso Greenstock, the first "national park management organization," regarding the number of years of activity, motivation of activities, place attachment, satisfaction with the organization, intention to continue activities, constraints on activities, and necessary measures. The multiple regression analysis was used to analyze the factors related to the continuation of activities and the factors related to the constraints that make it difficult to continue activities. As a result, it was considered that the factors for the continuation of activities were related to the attachment to Aso green stock and grasslands, and the sharing of the joy of supporting maintenance activities with colleagues. The factors for the continuation of the activities involved the attachment to Aso green stock and grasslands and the sharing of the joy of supporting maintenance activities with colleagues. The limiting factor for activities was "anxiety about physical fitness."</p>

There are many observational and clinical studies on treatment of pain in farmers, however, little is known about the effects of interventions based only on randomized controlled trials (RCTs) on diseases of the musculoskeletal system or connective tissue (D-MSCT). The objective of this review was to summarize the evidence on effects of non-surgical interventions for pain relief and symptom improvement in farmers with D-MSCT.(掲載許諾通知書発行日:令和3年9月28日)

Information on chronic locomotor disorders in Japanese professional farmers
KAMIOKA Hiroharu, MACHIDA Reiko
Japanese Journal of Health and Research 42 ( 0 ) 3 - 11 2021.06
Language:Japanese Publisher:Japan Health & Research Institute
<p><b>【Background】</b></p><p>In Japanese agriculture, an aging population and a shortage of successors are becoming serious problems. One of the reasons behind this is the high physical burden of farming work and consequent health problems for farmers. The purpose of this study was to review information on chronic locomotor disorders in Japanese professional farmers.</p><p><b>【Methods】</b></p><p>With regard to reports on the occurrence or prevalence of locomotor disorders in Japanese farmers, we examined various statistics from the Ministries of Health, Labour and Welfare, and of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries in Japan, and from the National Mutual Insurance Federation of Agricultural Cooperatives in Japan. In addition, we also searched the <i>Ichushi Web</i> and the journal, the <i>Japanese Association of Rural Medicine</i>, via J-STAGE.</p><p><b>【Results】</b></p><p>Although both fatal and non-fatal accidents have occurred during farm work, statistical data showing the prevalence of chronic locomotor disorders was found to be non-existent. Observational epidemiological studies on farmers were also lacking. This is due to the inclusion of studies in rural areas, suggesting that stratified data should be extracted by professional farmers.</p><p><b>【Conclusion】</b></p><p>Centralization and the disclosure of information on chronic locomotor disorders will lead to better awareness and the development of procedures to prevent and mitigate accidents. In turn, this will help maintain the number of professional farmers and agricultural domestic production in Japan.</p>
