林業作業へのICTの導入などの先進的研究を行うとともに，小規模林業に対応した従来の林業技術の再構成も行う。
将来的には人工知能を用いた林業技術の伝承に係わる研究を進めていきたい。

森林の公益性を発揮するためには，森林にアクセスするための林道が必要不可欠です。また，林道網の拡大により森林・林業の経営・管理が活性化され，環境への寄与も期待できます。
林道開発による環境破壊が問題視されているようですが，私たちの研究室では，工事などによる環境負荷を低減させ，さらに安全に走行できる林道の作設方法を研究し，森林管理などの状況も含めて環境をトータルに評価してみたいと考えております。
