The growth of Ginkgo biloba and Populus nigra cuttings by providing distilled water of trees Reviewed

It has been known that the distilled water made from tree leaves, which contain essential oil, sometimes have bacteria resist effects. This research examined the stimulating effects of distilled water of tree leaves for the growth of the cuttings. Experiments used cuttings of Ginkgo biloba and Populus nigra. Distilled water was made of leaves of Ginkgo biloba, Populus nigra, Cinnamomum camphora, and Chamaecyparis pisifera. The experiment results of Ginkgo bibba cuttings showed the distilled water of Cinnamomum camphora and Chamaecyparis pisifera could stimulate the growth, but not for Populus cuttings in contrast. In addition, the distilled water of Cinnamomum camphora and Populus nigra showed some bacteria resistance effect for Escherichia coli.

樹木の精油などの成分が溶け込んだ芳香蒸留水には、抗菌作用を持つものがあることが知られている。本研究では、挿し木苗の養成にその芳香蒸留水がどのような効果をもたらすかを考察した。供試材料には、ポプラ、イチョウの挿し木苗を用い、イチョウには、イチョウ、クスノキ、サワラの芳香蒸留水、ポプラには、ポプラ、クスノキ、サワラの芳香蒸留水を定期的に与え、通常の水道水を施した対象区との成長比較を行った。その結果、イチョウの挿し木苗においては、クスノキ、サワラの芳香蒸留水を施した挿し木苗は成長が良好であり、それとは対照的にポプラの挿し木苗では芳香蒸留水を施した方が、成長が劣る結果が得られた。また、クスノキとポプラの芳香蒸留水に大腸菌に対する抗菌作用がやや認められた。

Antibacterial effects of volatile fragrance and distilled water of Cinnamomum camphora leaves Reviewed

This research examined the bacteria resistance effects by volatile fragrance and distilled water of leaves of Cinnamomum camphora. The samples were collected for 24 hours on 21st to 22nd of June and 10th to 11th of August in 2012. We used Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus which were ordinary bacterium in daily life. The experiment results showed the volatile fragrance could resist the glowing of both of bacteria in August, because the hour of sunlight was 5.9 hour, however in the condition of 0.2 hour of sunlight in June, the resistant effects were not shown on the both of bacteria. On the August experiment, distilled water could resist for E. coli, but not for Staphylococcus. These results suggest the antibacterial effect s of Cinnamomum camphora leaves were different by sunlight and seasonal condition.

本研究では，クスノキを供試材料とし，その葉から放出される芳香揮発成分および芳香蒸留水の抗菌作用について，日常の身近な細菌である大腸菌と黄色ブドウ球菌を用い，6月21～22日と8月10～11日にそれぞれ24時間芳香をトラップして実験を行った。実験の結果，実施日に日照時間が0.2時間だった6月の実験条件下では大腸菌，黄色ブドウ球菌の双方に対してクスノキの葉の芳香による菌体の増殖を抑制する作用は認められなかったが，日照時間が5.9時間だった8月の条件下においては双方の菌の増殖を抑制する効果がある程度認められた。また, 8月に行われた芳香蒸留水による抗菌作用の実験では，大腸菌に対してはその効果が認められたが，黄色ブドウ球菌に対しては認められなかった。これらの結果から，クスノキの葉の抗菌作用は，日照条件や季節によって異なることが示唆された。

Experiments used Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus which were ordinary bacterium in daily life.. The experiment results of Cinnamomum camphora showed the volatile fragrance could resist the glowing of Escherichia coli, but not for Staphylococcus. On the other hand, the experiment results of Eucalyptus grobulus showed the volatile fragrance could resist the glowing of Staphylococcus, but not for Escherichia coli.
