原始的な植物であるシダを利用する日本産ゾウムシ上科甲虫を初めてまとめた．１新種を含む３科４属７種のゾウムシ類が，６科１０属１１種のシダ植物を利用することを明らかにするとともに，ゾウムシ類のシダ植物への適応が，被子植物からの二次的な寄主転換の結果生じた可能性を示唆した．植食性昆虫の多様な寄主利用様式の解明と植物昆虫関係学の基礎データとなる．

中国南東部から記載されたヨリメムツヒゲキクイサビゾウムシ (和名新称)を日本(宮古島)から新たに記録した.ヨリメムツヒゲキクイサビゾウムシ属(和名新称)自体も日本初記録となる.本属はインドネシア(アンボン)から記載されたタイプ種と本種の2種のみが知られ，生態的知見は知られていなかったが，今回，リュウキュウマツ倒木の樹皮下から成虫が得られた.タイプ種とは，幅広い体形をしていることから容易に区別がつく.また，非常に不思議 なことに，西半球(キューバ共和国)から本亜科の初記録種として Grebennikov(2018)により図示された未同定種に酷似する.

著者らの最近の調査で，宮古諸島から初記録となるゾウムシ科甲虫 4 種を確認したので記録した.1)オキナワツノクモゾウムシ(和名新称):これまで八重山諸島から知られていたが，宮古諸島からの発見は分布北限記録で，既知の寄主植物に加え，サキシマハマボウからも得られた;2)ナガヒサゴオチバゾウムシ:既知の分布空白地帯であった宮古諸島において，トウツルモドキの絡んだ灌木から得られた;3)ハマベキクイゾウムシ:広域分布する種で，国内では北海道から琉球列島まで，国外では汎熱帯に広く分布するが，宮古諸島から記録がなかった;4)ツヤケシマルバネキクイゾウムシ:トカラ列島と奄美群島から知られていたが，分布南限記録となる宮古諸島で海岸に打ち上げられた流木片から得られた.

これまで国内では琉球列島からのみ知られていたバナナの重要害虫であるバナナツヤオサゾウムシを九州本土部から記録した．今回の発見により本種の分布北限記録を更新するとともに，本種の生息地からのバナナ苗の輸送，移植への注意喚起を促した．害虫種の人為的な分布拡大の一例として，応用昆虫学上の基礎データを提供した．

Legalov(2020)によりキボシゾウムシ族ツチイロゾウムシ属の1亜属として設立された Cotasterorhinus を，同じアナアキゾウムシ亜科の Lithinini 族に含まれる Seleuca 属の新参シノニムとして扱った.また，そのタイプ種に指定されたフィリピン産の種については Seleuca philippinensis (Legalov, 2020), comb. nov.として所属を変更した.

これまでアオクチナガヒゲボソゾウムシの成虫加害植物としてスギ(ヒノキ科)が知られていたが，今回，新たにヒノキ科のミヤマビャクシンを利用していることが分かったので報告した.スギは屋久島において，標高 600〜1,800m 付近に自然分布するのに対し，ミヤマビャクシンは 1,800m 以上の高地にも生えていることから，本種が屋久島のより高地にまで生息している可能性が示唆された.

生態的知見が乏しいスジヒメカタゾウムシの成虫ならびに成虫の食害痕を確認した.本種成虫はこれまで 4 月から 12 月に採集されていて，2 月の成虫観察例は最も早い記録となり，本種成虫が周年で発生している可能性が示唆された.また，成虫の加害植物についても不明な点が多かったが，クサトベラを中心に，グンバイヒルガオやハマゴウ，ツルナ，コハマジンチョウに特徴的な成虫の食害痕が見られたため，成虫の加害植物とし て記録した.

ヒメカタゾウムシ亜属成虫の加害植物ならびに生息環境に関する新知見をまとめて報告した.加害植物の調査は主に本亜属の成虫が残した特徴的な食害痕をもとに行い，モクタチバナを中心に少なくとも 10 科 10 種におよぶ幅広い植物を成虫が利用している実態が明らかとなった. また，そのような食害痕が見つかる場所は，地形がほぼ平坦か傾斜が緩やかな場所であった.

飛翔能力のない海浜性のゾウムシであるScepticus属の２種について，その遺伝的構造を明らかにするとともに，移動分散方法について推定した．その結果，西南日本の太平洋側を中心に，地域固有の遺伝子型が見られ，このゾウムシでは，海流による移動分散の影響が少ないことが示唆された．

ボルネオの低地熱帯雨林において地上約 2 m 付近から高さ 25−45 m の林冠に設置した訪花性誘引剤を用いた衝突誘引式トラップ(白色および黄色)でもっとも多く採集されたアシブトゾウムシ 族 Ochyromerini の分類学的検討を行ったところ，本族の既知属とは明らかに異なる未記載種が含まれていたので，Chyoromera ommata gen. et sp. nov. として命名，記載した.本種の成虫は地上付近に比べ林冠部にセットしたトラップで，また，3 月と 12 月に行った調査に比べ 8 月に行った調査で，捕獲された個体数が圧倒的に多かったが，白色と黄色のトラップ間での総個体数の差はほとんど見られなかった.さらに，得られた個体の性比が著しく雌に偏っていた.

世界から１属１種のみが知られていたゾウムシ亜科Eysynnada属の２番目の種がインド（アンダマン諸島）およびタイから発見され，その形態的特徴を図示し命名記載するとともに，属の分類学的位置について検討し，顕著な形態的特徴から独立の属として扱うことが妥当であると結論づけた．本属の昆虫の生態についてはこれまで未知であったが，今回発見した新種がアカネ科Neolamarckia属の１種の花から得られたことを報告した．本研究よってこれまでその存在があまり知られていなかったゾウムシ亜科Eysynnada属昆虫の形態ならびに分類，生態に関する新たな知見をもたらした．形態観察の際，アルカリ金属によるタンパク質変成作用を利用し，10％未満の水酸化ナトリウムに虫体をつけて筋肉除去をした後，外胚葉起源の器官観察を行った．

ワタ（アオイ科）の害虫として知られるクモゾウムシ族の１種Pempherulus affinisに近縁な新種のゾウムシを琉球列島から発見し，命名記載した．今回見つかった新種のゾウムシは，ワタと同じアオイ科のオオハマボウを食害することから，この属のゾウムシがアオイ科の植物に依存している可能性が示唆された．新種として判断するにあたり，解剖を行い，近縁種と本種の雌雄交尾器の形態観察を行い，その特徴を図示した．また，解剖に際し，１０％未満の水酸化ナトリウム溶液に虫体腹部を浸し，体内の筋肉除去を行った後外胚葉起源の外部生殖器の観察を行った．

南伊豆諸島の固有種と考えられていたハチジョウヒメカタゾウムシ Arrhaphogaster hachijoensis MORIMOTO et MIYAKAWA, 1985 が本土部(伊豆半島)から見つかった．その結果，伊豆半島には本属の 2 種が分布することになる.現在のところ，ハチジョウヒメカタゾウムシの伊豆半島における分布は，半島の西側と南側の低地に限られていて，両種が同所的に分布する場所は知られていない.また，最近の調査で，本属の種はスギやヒノキの植林地とその周辺で見つかることが多く，ハチジョウヒ メカタゾウムシも針葉樹植林地とその周辺でのみ，アジサイやウツギなどの灌木から採集されるという状況が明らかとなった.本種が得られる植物は，植林地以外でも見つかるが，そのような場所から本種が採集されることは今回調査した限りではなかった．伊豆諸島には本来スギやヒノキは自生していなかったことなど から，今後，伊豆諸島固有種と考えられていたハチジョウヒメカタゾウムシの南伊豆諸島における分布ならびに北伊豆諸島にも生息するケブカヒメカタゾウムシの分布が自然分布かどうか確認する必要がある.

皇居内の庭園ならびに圃場周辺の森林に昆虫捕獲トラップを２年間に渡り設置し，得られた甲虫類の種名を調べリストを作成することで昆虫多様性の実態を明らかにするとともに，種数，個体数のデータからどのような森林環境において甲虫の種多様性が高いかを調査した．その結果，多数の皇居新記録種を含む希少種が森林の高所部にセットしたトラップで得られることが明らかとなった．また，本調査に用いたトラップは農林業生態系における害虫の発生状況を定量的に調べる際一般的に用いられるもので，農業生態系以外の環境においても十分適用可能で，セットする位置や高さでも昆虫相が変わることが明らかとなった．

これまで本属の分布の空白地帯であったインドシナ（ラオス）から2新種を発見し，命名記載した．本属の生態についてはこれまで未知であったが，２新種ともクスノキ科の植物から得られ，近縁属などの生態も考慮すると，本属がクスノキ科に依存している可能性が高いことを報告した．ノミゾウムシ族の大半の種の幼虫が潜葉性であるが，本族は球形の体形や長い口吻など特殊な形態的特徴を有していて，潜葉性以外の習性を持っている可能性を示唆した．

フタバガキ科は東南アジア熱帯の優占樹木で，木材はラワン材として知られる有用樹種である．その最重要捕食者である種子分散前の種子食昆虫相についてShorea属の11種を対象に半島マレーシアで調査を行い，種子未成熟時と成熟時で利用する昆虫相に違いがあることをはじめて明らかにした．ゾウムシ上科のチビゾウムシ科の１種が，種子未成熟時に優占し，成熟後の種子はゾウムシ科のアシナガゾウムシ族の仲間による食害が増す．一方，ハマキガ科の１種は，種子未成熟時から成熟期まで通じて発生が確認された．これら種子食昆虫の寄主特異性は弱く，寄主間よりむしろ寄主内の種子の発達状況が昆虫相の構成に影響を及ぼすと結論づけた．また，Shorea属の各種は，断続的に結実することで，種子分散前の種子食昆虫の食害を避けていると考えられた．
