Changes in Buying Behavior toward Agriculture Products from Fukushima Prefecture after the Nuclear accident and its Influential Factors: Analysis based on Consumer Questionnaire Survey

This paper aims to analyse consumers' intentions and buying patterns toward agricultural products from Fukushima prefecture after five to seven years since the nuclear power plant accident. Independent Chi-squared test and quantification tape Ⅱ revealed three main points. Firstly, even after five years since the nuclear accident, approximately 20 % of consumers-respondents still had no intention of purchasing agricultural products from Fukushima prefecture. Secondly, the relationship between Fukushima and consumers had the most significant influence on whether to purchase products from Fukushima or not, while consumers who had a stronger connection with Fukushima were more likely to purchase products from Fukushima. Lastly, even among consumers who answered that they would not purchase agricultural products produced in Fukushima no matter how cheap they were, some consumers showed changes in their purchasing intentions over the years.

The COVID-19 infection has had a significant impact on the flowering industry in Japan. Especially in its first wave from March to May 2020, large amounts of flowers were discarded as a result of a significant decrease in commercial demand, which was called “flower loss”. However, the problem of flower disposal has existed for a long time, such as loss due to unsold products at retail stores and loss due to deviation from market shipping standards. This study aims to clarify the concrete measures against flower loss issues by retailers and the changing situation in the time of Covid-19. The following two points were clarified by a case analysis of three retailers who are actively working on flower loss. First, in order to reduce the loss, they are working on it by developing sales channels for non-standard products, by shortening distribution channels such as subscription services and online D2C sales, by forecasting the number of sales more accurately. Second, utilizing the loss occurs even after taking measures and recycling/upcycling to new products such as compost. The study also makes clear that increasing interest in flower loss under Covid-19 spread has been effective in reducing flower waste across a wide range.

<p>In this paper we discussed farm internship in a curriculum for university students. Farm internship in Yao farm gives effects such as securing labor force in the present and future, and adding value through student involvement on the farm. For students there are also effects such as understanding of the actual conditions and issues of agricultural management, opportunities for communication and farther experiences. The COVID-19 crisis deprived such opportunities from both students and farm. We have provided alternative materials over the network and secured learning opportunities for students. However, substituting off-campus activities is a difficult task, and it is necessary to develop further methods.</p>

オランダ農業経済研究所の資料と日本の農家調査をもとに、農作業の外注に関するオランダと日本の比較を行った。その結果、両国とも労働節約的な効果はあるものに、計算結果からはコスト引き下げ効果に関する明確効果は得られなかった。

これまで、あまり取り上げられることのなかった、大規模畑作地帯に置かれている女性の現状と意識についてアンケート調査をもとに考察した。事例として取り上げた網走市では機械化が進展し、労働が軽減された反面、農業に対する関心や発言力が低下していることがわった。また、近年は野菜の導入により再び労働時間の増加が見られるようになった。このような原料農産物地帯では農産加工にも結びつかず、女性の生産と生活の活性化の方向をみいだす必要性を述べた。
